Brittany Strautman grew up in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. After living abroad in Australia, and moving around the United States—Brittany made her way back to the Roaring Fork Valley.

Brittany is a third generation licensed attorney (Brittany’s great-great-great grandfather former U.S. Vice President James Schoolcraft Sherman; and Brittany’s mother Carolyn M. (Sherman) Strautman, Esq.).

Prior to law school, Brittany worked as a legal assistant at her mother’s estate planning firm (Kerst & Strautman). Brittany previously worked as a proofreader for the University of Hawaii Press. During law school, Brittany was an Associate Editor for Ave Maria’s Law Review, and a Legal Clinician for Ave’s Veterans and Servicemembers Law Clinic. After law school, Brittany had the good fortune of serving as a criminal prosecutor for the 9th Judicial District under the guidance and direction of Assistant District Attorney Sarah Nordgaard, present District Attorney Ben Sollars, and former District Attorney Jefferson Cheney.

In her estate planning firm, Brittany helps people navigate legacy planning; advanced care planning; special needs planning; and among other legal issues—“just in case” planning (when you are a parent to minor children, have fur babies, are about to travel abroad, or are an outdoor enthusiast and enjoy some risk-taking).
